Turns Out People on YouTube are Really Into the Extreme Spicy Noodle Challenge

What’s the spiciest food you’ve ever eaten? Was it something boring like a chicken wing or a jalapeno pepper? Snooze. Out in this weird, worldwide arena of all things trendy, people are now taking the iconic food group, ramen, to a whole new level of hotness as it competes to be one of the spiciest foods, like, ever.

Samyang Food from South Korea released what they’re calling the hottest bowl of ramen the world has ever tasted.

The Hek Buldak Extra Spicy Roasted Chicken, aka the “Nuclear Spicy Noodles,” contain 8,000 Scoville units, which makes it three times hotter than Tabasco hot sauce. Ouch!

Finishing an entire serving of noodles can be quite the challenge, which is why YouTubers started filming themselves attempting to scarf down a whole bowl. The challenge is to eat an entire bowl as quickly as possible. It seems simple at first, but it quickly starts to feel there’s a volcano is erupting inside your mouth. Some people cry, some people whine, but for most people, the challenge seems doable.

Oh, and this video has a casual 6.6 million views.

I am SO confused how this challenge is garnering this much attention on YouTube. There are spinoff videos of people doing the exact same thing, equipped with graphics, emojis and obnoxious fonts. This is taking #trending to a whole new level, who knew it?

To be honest, they actually look delicious, but its going to take more than a sense of pride and accomplishment for me to give them a try. Just pass me a package of the regular chicken flavor, please.
