Matt and Kim are Coming Back to the Capital Region in March to Get Hot, Sweaty and Disgusting

I’ve talked about that the Capital Region is a hot spot for music on Two Buttons Deep before, especially for Alternative music. And just today, that statement became even more true when 102.7 WEQX’s Jeff Mo’rad broke the big news on air that one of my (newer) favorite bands, Matt and Kim will soon be coming back to play in the area.

You can listen to the on-air announcement here.

You’ve never heard of Matt and Kim before? I’m willing to bet you’ve heard a song or two at least. If you watch enough television, you might’ve heard one of their hits on some popular commercials. Right now they’re featured on a Buick commercial that plays their song “It’s Alright” and a few years ago, Verizon used their song “Let’s Go.”

This news is not only cool for local music fans, but for Matt and Kim fans from everywhere who are just generally excited to hear the duo is performing again. It’s been an entire year since Matt and Kim have played, as Kim suffered a knee injury right at the start of 2017 while touring. So, the band says they want to make this tour extra special by playing in venues that they wouldn’t necessarily play at otherwise. But what does that mean?

The reason for the smaller venues for this tour, they say, is because the band wants to give back by playing at the places the frequented when first starting out. They also want the show to be “hot, sweaty, and disgusting.” I resonate with that because the first time I saw Matt and Kim perform it was literally right outside of The Hollow in street during Pearl Palooza in 2012, a few years ago now before they were like, famous famous.

So, for this next show they’ll be at The Hollow in Albany on March 8th. The Hollow is a fantastic place to see a show, however its a small venue that holds roughly 200 people. It’s cool they’re playing there because I’d think this band could flirt with filling up the Times Union Center.

This without question will be a kickass show. I highly recommend going out and seeing them perform. Heres all the information that you need for tickets.
