Girl Finds Engagement Ring Early, Calls it “Basic” and Hopefully Isn’t Getting Proposed To Anymore

I’m pretty well integrated into the world of weddings even though I am not engaged or married myself. My “real job” is doing business operations for two different bridal boutiques, and I also have a freelance gig for one of the biggest jewelry stores in New England.

Not bragging, just saying, if anyone has a hot take on the story that some girl put her boyfriend on BLAST after she found an engagement ring before he proposed and called it “basic” all over social media, it’s gonna be me.

As reported by the Daily Mail:

A woman who found her engagement ring before her boyfriend proposed complained about the ‘basic’ band on social media – and the internet is not happy. ‘Ewwwww. Self shame Friday here I come. Found this in the BF’s nightstand. Not a fan,’ the woman wrote in a Facebook group. ‘Please roast and then tell me how to tactfully say no you need to go get something different,’ she added.

This is BEYOND “How Rude” territory here. I am actually appalled. So many rules broken here, starting with the no snooping rule. Why are you snooping, girl?

If you think an engagement is on the horizon, keep your damn mouth shut and don’t jinx it, duh!!! Does anyone ever find out anything good when they’re hunting around for information? No, never. First mistake right there.

rude

Second of all, if you did locate said engagement ring and didn’t like it –maybe repeat the step before this one and keep your damn mouth shut. You can consult a close friend or family member, MAYBE, or if you really have a set of balls, talk to your fiance to be about it and figure something out. But you know what you shouldn’t do? Take to social media and call out your man who probably worked hard AF to buy you DIAMONDS!!!!!

Can we start a petition to make sure this check never gets proposed to? Actually, scratch that. It probably goes without saying that karma is going to get her in the worst way.
