How will RPI fare in the NCAA DIII Playoffs?

We saw Union win the Dutchman Shoes for the first time since 2012 last week over those engineers in Troy but it’s RPI representing the Liberty League in the DIII Football Playoffs.

This is RPI’s second year in a row going to the NCAA Playoffs. Last year, they gave a great effort in a 45-27 loss to Wesley down in Delaware. Talking to their coaches on the recruiting trail last winter, they all said the same thing. Wesley was bigger, stronger, and faster. Tough draw for them last year, let’s take a look at their road to the 2018 DIII National Championship, the Stagg Bowl.

They open up their playoff run at home vs Husson today. Husson is located in Bangor, Maine and opened up the last 2 seasons with our Union Dutchmen. We traveled all the way to Bangor in 2017 (about a 7 hour ride) and lost 20-7. We had every chance to win it but couldn’t capitalize on opportunities. This year, when Husson traveled to Union, it wasn’t even close. Union dominated all phases of the game and rolled to a 30-7 victory.

I think RPI will match-up very well today and not have much of an issue with the undisciplined but athletic Husson Eagles.

Score prediction: RPI 31 Husson 9

Win this one, and RPI will have to travel to our neighbors to the west, the powerhouse SUNY Brockport. Let’s cross that bridge if and when we come to it.

Go engine…Nope. I can’t even say it.
